We are engaged!!
Saturday, November 16, 2013, the day we got engaged!! I had planned our yearly pictures with my friend Jen Rodriguez for our holiday cards, and when Adam found out he contacted Jen and they made a plan. We first headed out with Sawyer to get some family pictures, and after dropping him back off at home, we headed to Cambria. A week ago, Adam suggested Cambria for the second half of our shoot, which made me a little suspicious ;) The 3 of us drove up there, and our first stop was this super cool succulent store in Cambria that we really like, Grow Nursery. If you know us well, you know we love succulents and exploring small towns. We walked through the store all the way to the back, looked around at some succulents, Jen shot a few pictures, and then I turned around to find Adam down on one knee asking me to marry him!! I of course said YES, and literally jumped around in excitement. Adam told me he thought I was going to jump on him in all my excitement haha. That night Adam took me to dinner at The Granada Hotel in SLO, where a family standing next to us at the bar noticed my ring and then found out we just got engaged. They even went and bought us champagne to celebrate!
He made me this amazing wood box that he worked on all last week, pretending he had to"stay late at work" and "go on a field trip". Yet he was really at our friend Mikey's shop making me this amazing box :) Adam & I had picked out my ring together a few months ago, but it wasn't until he proposed that I got to see the two-toned version of this ring. I decided I wanted a gold halo and a white gold band, and I was so excited when he opened the box and there it was!! As some of you know, my dad passed away when I was in high school from a heart condition. When we were looking at rings and diamonds back in June, the idea popped into our heads that we could use the center stone from my mom's engagement ring that my dad gave her. So I called her and asked, and she started crying because she was so touched and agreed that it was the perfect idea. Over the summer while we were in Pleasanton, Adam stopped by my house when I wasn't there and got the ring from my mom, and he even brought her flowers. She told him he could do whatever he wanted with the band and little diamonds that were on the ring too. After Adam proposed, he told me that the gold from my moms ring was made into my gold halo, and the 2 little diamonds from her ring were set on the side of my ring right below the halo. I am so in love with the fact that my mom's entire engagement ring from my dad is in this ring, making it that much more special.
