Jocelyn & Brooks married! Nipomo, CA {Dana Powers House}

Jocelyn & Brooks were married at the BEAUTIFUL Dana Powers Housein Nipomo on Sunday. I'd dreamed of shooting a wedding here, so when I received an email from Jocelyn about her wedding being at this venue, I was beyond excited. We took advantage of the tree swing, blue truck, and the bridal suite to get some amazing pictures. Adam met up with the guys in the barn to snap some pictures of them hanging out, as well as Brooks with his son. The wedding was picture perfect and had some amazing details throughout! Jocelyn seriously was the most beautiful bride I've ever seen, like straight out of a magazine! I had a blast shooting your wedding and I hope you two have a fabulous time in Maui for your honeymoon! US We’re 26 and recently engaged over Thanksgiving weekend – he asked me to become his wife at Melville Winery over a picnic lunch and a bottle of Pinot! We’re central coast natives, born and raised in Lompoc CA. I currently work in San Luis Obispo for a Digital Marketing Agency and Brooks is Firefighter Captain out at Vandenberg Air Force Base. Brooks has a son, Landon, who is 4 years old and a blessing to be around. We live in Lompoc and have made it our goal to make a home in San Luis Obispo one day.  We spend almost every second together and are disgustingly happy :) In our spare time we enjoy cooking meals at home or bbq with friends. We love where we live and consider ourselves lucky to be on the Central Coast! We like to go wine tasting and check out the local vineyards. We ride our beach cruisers any time the weather permits. We love to go camping as a family and make s’mores.  You can often find us supporting local musicians and enjoying concerts from Santa Barbara to Paso Robles. Our Story I have truly come to believe that timing is everything and everything does happen for rhyme and reason! Brooks and I were born in the same hospital, 5 months apart. We grew up in the same town, with less than a 10 minute drive between our houses. We attended the same middle school and high school, often had the same teachers. I was a cheerleader, he was an athlete, and I cheered at his sports events. We ran with the same crowd of friends. Both of our fathers own their own construction companies. One of my best friends dated one of his best friends. And the list can go on and on in the similarities to our lives......Ironically enough, our lives may have ran in parallel growing up, but not once did we ever cross paths. We never spoke a word, we were never introduced....I never knew the love of my life was right underneath my nose! After high school I moved to Long Beach where I attended Cal State Long Beach. I lived in Southern California for 5 years and decided to move back to the central coast after losing my job during the economic crisis. I was unhappy to be back in my home town, depressed about losing my job, just gone through a breakup, and at place of confusion in my life's direction. Then I met Brooks. We were finally introduced through a mutual friend and ended up talking the whole night away. I left that night with butterflies in my stomach. Over the next year and half, our paths crossed many times at random occasions and each time it did, we managed to be inseparable but nothing ever grew. We didn’t realize it at the time, but we were simply building the foundation for our relationship – a friendship. When we ran into one another there was definitely a strong attraction, but it never was more than friends. We dated other people and respected one another's lives. Then, almost a year and half later from when we had originally met, Brooks asked me to dinner and I obliged:) We started dating, fell in love, and the rest is history! What I find so interesting and important, is that in our story - timing was everything. We have built such a sound and stable foundation that our relationship has grown so strong. We are truly best friends. We share the same interests. Where I am weak, he is strong. What he can’t handle, I can. We value one another, respect each other, and shower the other with love. I feel so many people today forget to upkeep the friendship in their relationships or to even build one before taking the next steps. It may have been fate that eventually brought us together, but its our friendship that keeps us in love. Details about my Wedding day | Sunday, September 4th 2011 We are getting married Labor Day Weekend at the Dana Power Barn in Nipomo, Ca. If you have never heard of this place is definitely worth taking the time to Google! It’s absolutely gorgeous!!! A photographers dream come true. I would say the theme for our wedding is ‘Rustic Elegance’. It’s going to be a very white wedding with hints of charcoal gray, blush pinks and powder blues throughout. When we sat down to start planning our wedding we said there were 2 things that meant the most to make our day the ultimate dream wedding day – the venue and the photographer. We have absolutely found the venue of our dreams – Dana Powers is set in the rolling hills of Nipomo, with a Victorian house and huge rustic barn draped in luxurious white fabrics and twinkle lights. There are lush gardens and vintage finds throughout the whole venue. But in deciding to splurge on our venue, we have to make cuts in many other areas. Unfortunately will not be able to have a professional photographer for our wedding day – one of the most important parts! We want more than anything to be able to have artistic, unique, and beautiful photos to remember our wedding day by, but we have to budget accordingly and other things such as food come first. If we were to win this package – we would truly be having our dream wedding and it would provide us with memories of a lifetime to be able to have professional wedding photos to share with our family, friends and to display in our home. We would absolutely love to have you shoot our wedding if you so choose!
