Alissa is also a wedding photographer, so when she emailed me about her Palm Springs wedding, I knew it would be good!! I didn’t get to meet Alissa & Karl until their wedding day, but we instantly felt like old friends. Their day was a mix of Palm Springs Vibes, Positano elegance, and Cuban fun! They had a lot of personal touches at their wedding and their coordinator brought everything together.Read More

Brandon and I got engaged this past Christmas! After exchanging our gifts we got for each other, he said he “still has one more gift” for me, immediately I started freaking out inside, he took the ring box out of his pocket and proposed- I was in shock! Even after being together for over 8 years at the time, he completely surprised me with the proposal!
We chose Joshua Tree for our engagement session location because it’s such a unique and beautiful place, I fell in love with it when I first went there last year! I love the desert (and would probably get married there if it was closer!), but since our wedding venue will be closer to the coast, it was the perfect opportunity to get some pretty desert photos for our engagement session! We decided to bring our friends along for the trip out to Joshua Tree and make it into a fun little weekend getaway and had Danielle meet us out there to do a sunrise shoot (since of course it was raining on the evening we wanted to originally shoot on!). It was still fun to get up super early and head out to watch the sunrise in the desert!
While choosing our outfits, I wanted to pick colors and prints that would go well with our personal styles, but also the style of our wedding design. We are planning to have lots of peachy, pink, and orange flowers and printed blue linens for our wedding, so I used those elements as inspiration while picking out my dresses and Brandon’s outfits. I wore an orange floral wrap dress from Anthropologie and an off the shoulder floral dress from Show Me Your Mumu. Brandon wore dark denim jeans and two blue button up shirts from JCrew. I love the pops of color against the more muted desert landscape! Lastly, since my friends know I love flowers so much, they surprised me with a floral crown and bouquet made by The Bloomin’ Gypsy for our engagement photos!! It was the sweetest gift and really made the photos that much more special!
I love that we chose such a cool place for our engagement session, and I know we will always have a special connection to Joshua Tree because of that! We cannot wait for our wedding next Spring, and these beautiful photos Danielle took of us make us even more excited to see what she captures on our wedding day!!
Nick and Jess have become two of our closest friends over the last year. Just last month we all vacationed in Kauai and I knew it was the perfect spot for their engagement session. And now I'm counting down to their October wedding in my other favorite location, San Luis Obispo!

From Danae Grace Events: Inspired by the modern and bohemian Palm Springs flair, we wanted to create a more garden style approach with some refined elements. Using the Pantone Colors of the year as our base color palette we did incorporated more bold tones with the ferns and bougainvillea to brighten up the overall look. We still wanted to use some bohemian elements to pull it all together and the dreamcatchers by Dream Catchers LLC were a perfect touch! We used them as place cards and as the escort display numbers which we hope inspires other brides to consider using them!
If You Gave A Girl A Saw is an up and coming incredible wood worker who created the stunning escort display backdrop. Borrowed Blu aways has the most beautiful pieces and the marble chargers, southwestern plates, flatware and goblets were perfect and tied everything together.
All of the vendors who collaborated did such a beautiful job capturing our vision and we hope this inspires brides who love soft tones but to pull in some pops of colors and out of the box elements.

The day after my first workshop, we hit the road and drove south to the desert. Our first stop was Joshua Tree, where we explored, camped, and took a lot of film pictures. Next we headed to Palm Springs where we stayed at the wonderful Ace Hotel. Our dog Sawyer even got to come on our 5 day vacation with us because the Ace Hotel is dog friendly!! We relaxed poolside, ate some yummy food, enjoyed the warm weather, took a lot of pictures, and just enjoyed our time away. I just got my film scans back from Photovision, so now I'm ready to share my favorites from our trip 2 weeks ago :)
